How to apply for a research degree program
Welcome to Research Degree Apply Online, a secure step-by-step online service for applying for UniSA research degree programs (Doctor of Philosophy, Research Professional Doctorates and Masters by Research).
The online form is for both international applicants (citizens of countries other than Australia and New Zealand, Permanent Residents of New Zealand and holders of other temporary visas residing in Australia) and Australian applicants (Australian citizens, Permanent Residents, holders of Permanent Humanitarian Visas and New Zealand citizens).

7 steps to applying
You must follow the 7 steps below to apply to do a research degree at UniSA.
1. Check that you are eligible
2. Find a research degree program
To complete the application, you will need to provide information about your proposed program of study, the name of your proposed supervisor at UniSA, and any scholarship you may wish to apply for.

5. Organise supporting statements

6. Complete the online application form
To complete the application, you will need to provide details about:
| your proposed research, including the proposed thesis title | |
| any awards or prizes received | |
| any professional experience | |
| any publications you have authored or co-authored |

7. Provide relevant documentation
To complete the application, you will need to send copies of the following information:
| transcripts of undergraduate, honours and postgraduate courses undertaken (even if not completed) | |
| certification of English language proficiency (if relevant) | |
| passport details |
Using the online application form
- When you first register with Apply Online you will need to complete your name, contact details and email address.
- A return email will be sent to you giving you an application number and password.
- You can then go to the online application form where you will need to follow the steps to complete the application.
- If you can't finish the application in one sitting (it takes about 15 minutes), you can save it and return later. Be sure to save the email with the application number and password.
- When you have completed all the details, submit the application.
- Print out the Documentation Cover Sheet.
- Obtain certified copies of English language certificates, academic transcripts, passport details or birth certificate. Write the application number on the top right hand corner of all documents, attach to the Documentation Cover Sheet and forward to the Graduate Studies Office within 5 days of submitting the application. If you wish to email copies (uncertified) you can do so, however certified copies will be required before an offer of admission can be finalised. (Addresses are at the bottom of the application form.)
- Print out a copy of the application (about 4 pages) for your own records.
We will acknowledge your application by email. It takes between four to six weeks to finalise applications and make an offer. Applicants for competitive scholarships may take longer.
The Graduate Studies Office will notify you of the outcome of your application by email.
