Identifying
what makes young people tick
'The same kind of market segmentation techniques used for advertising
products and services is now being used to help sell kids on sport and
physical activity. Led by Doctor Timothy Olds of UniSA, the Activity of
Young People - Coca Cola Research Project has so far gathered 8,000 profiles
on 9 to 15 year-olds in South Australia, Western Australia and New Zealand.'

Saving
lives, not just your skin
'We love a sunburnt country. No wonder Australia has the world's highest
rate of sun-related skin cancers. But that could soon change following a
ground-breaking discovery at UniSA's Centre for Pharmaceutical Research
(CPR), where researchers have developed a treatment that could prevent skin
cancers.'

Protecting
people who protect our children
'Violence begets violence. So for those whose professional duties make
them responsible for reporting child abuse, abuse is what often follows. But
until now, no-one knew what impact this had on their lives, health, work and
well-being. Led by Professor Freda Briggs, the de Lissa Institute, Magill
Campus, has investigated this vicious cycle of aggression.'

Focusing
on our future generation
'The future of humanity is being decided every day in early childhood.
That's why the de Lissa Institute's work in children's development,
education and well-being is so important. Led by Professor Wendy Schiller
OAM and Anne Glover AO, our team is making a difference to children's lives
in developing countries and here in Australia.'
