ReNEW - Research Concentrations Strategy
Academic Board approved the adoption of ReNEW: A New UniSA Research Concentrations Strategy at its meeting on Friday 26 September 2008. The strategy will see the implementation of five categories of research concentrations at UniSA and the enhancement of the teaching-research nexus through the establishment of frameworks of cooperation.
The objectives of the new research concentrations strategy are consistent with the University's Vision, Mission and Values statement that was adopted by Council earlier this year.
ReNEW: A New UniSA Research Concentrations Strategy is a result of substantial feedback received from across the University and the work of two subcommittees (Research Concentrations: Criteria and Performance and Research Concentrations: The Teaching-Research Nexus) of the Research Policy Committee (RPC) in the first quarter of 2008.
The recommendations contained in ReNEW will be implemented in 2009 to be fully operational in 2010 and progress will be communicated through ResNet, RPC, APPRC and Academic Board.

Supported Research Centres
UniSA is now calling for applications for University Supported Research Centre status. The 2009 round of Supported Research Centre applications is a two-stage process:
Stage 1 - Expression of Interest (EOI)
Before completing a full application for Supported Research Centre status it is suggested that applicants submit an EOI to Research and Innovation Services. The EOI will cover:
- Proposed membership and eligibility under the ReNEW Guidelines
- Area of focus of the proposed centre and any overlap with existing research concentrations
Research and Innovation Services will assess the EOI and within 10 working days advise the applicant of the research indicator income, eligibility of proposed members and any overlap with existing research concentrations.
Completion of the EOI is not mandatory, however it will assist potential applicants to decide whether to move to the full application.
Stage 2 - Full application
For 2009 the following key dates apply.
Expressions of Interest submitted: 6 April - 29 May 2009
Full application closing date: 30 June 2009
