Undergraduate Programs
The School’s undergraduate programs have been designed to combine the advantages of professional and career development studies with the traditional benefits of a university arts degree. In particular, Bachelor of Arts programs offer students extensive choice and flexibility to design an interesting, enjoyable and vocationally useful program of study which can be tailored to the individual's personal and career aspirations.
All programs have a strong creative and applied focus, and include an opportunity for students to consolidate their knowledge through practical experience in their chosen field. The combination of theory and practical learning means that as a graduate you will be equipped with the knowledge and experience to be immediately effective in your chosen profession. For example:
- Writing and Creative Communication students work collaboratively under the supervision of academic staff to publish books which showcase their creative writing and editing talents. The books are launched at a public event, and are available for sale in local bookshops.
- Final year Media Arts students participate in specialised multimedia production projects to produce interactive training DVDs and websites for community organisations.
- Journalism students work in teams to produce and present the morning news bulletin at a local radio station. They also gain experience through internships at local television stations and by writing newspaper articles for non-government organisations.
- Students doing Communication, Media and Culture undertake Communication Practicum - a short term placement at an organisation of their choice
- Students in Public Relations, Journalism or Communication, Media and Culture take advantage of internship opportunities.
