We are delighted to offer an optional pre-conference Master Class, based offsite at University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, at a special rate of AU$50.00 to CUPUM Conference delegates. The Master Class is also available as a stand alone event (without conference registration) for AU$200.00.

In an era of Smart Cities, Big Data and City Analytics there is increasing interest and imperative to harness the power of data for better city planning and decision-making. This masterclass will expose participants to the latest ideas in urban big data.  Professor Michael Batty will present some of the groundbreaking work being undertaking in analysing, modelling and visualising from around the world. The masterclass will then focus on Sydney as a case study with a particular application on mobility. Participants will undertake a hands-on exercise on spatial and temporal visualization of some bicycle trajectory data acquired from the RiderLog smart phone app.
