Professor Gunnar Steineck is a Senior Research Physician, Clinical Epidemiology at Karolinska Institutet, and a Professor of Clinical Cancer Epidemiology at University of Gothenburg in Stockholm, Sweden.
Professor Steineck has more than 30 years of experience with research in the medical field. In 2002, he was appointed Professor at Karolinska Institutet and in 2004 he accepted a Professor's Chair in Clinical Cancer Epidemiology at Gothenburg University.  The focus of the present research program is cure from cancer with restored health.
The majority of his publications relate to sexual health and bowel health among survivors from tumors in the pelvic cavity. Pioneering atomized clinimetric patient-reported outcomes and an epidemiological epistemology, his data collections have a richness of data. Recently he published on distinct syndromes concerning radiation-induced bowel diseases; he has also opened a mouse model for radiation to the normal tissue in the bowel focusing stem cells and the microbiota. Currently he plans randomized clinical studies concerning dietary fiber during radiotherapy and bowel health and vaginal dilatators and sexual health. Professor Steineck has published 320 peer-reviewed articles.
