Join fellow Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander alumni at a cocktail reception hosted by Professor Peter Buckskin, with guest speaker Dr James Charles.

Dr James Charles About Dr James Charles
Dr James Charles (PhD) is subject co-ordinator, lecturer in Podiatry, clinical surgery educator and researcher at Charles Sturt University in Albury NSW. An Aboriginal (Kaurna) man from Adelaide, James is the winner of the National NAIDOC Scholar of the Year Award 2017. His passion is Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander foot health and he has been conducting research in this area in many Aboriginal communities. James worked in Western Sydney, The Hunter, and Mid-North Coast of NSW for many years, where he was a lecturer and researcher at the University of Newcastle. He also provides podiatry services to Aboriginal communities on the South Coast of NSW. He has educated podiatry, medical, OT and nursing students about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and how best to provide health service in a respectful and culturally safe environment. He has a Bachelor and Masters of Podiatry from the University of South Australia and PhD from University of Newcastle.
