Iain McCalman: John Busst

Iain McCalman introduces the remarkable story of John Büsst, the Melbourne-born artist turned conservationist, famously known as 'The Bingil Bay Bastard.' Büsst, who transformed into one of Australia's most influential environmental advocates in the 1960s and 70s, led efforts to protect the Great Barrier Reef and lowland rainforests, rallying support from several prime ministers.

Welcome to Eucalara National Park. Eucalara is south-east of Tarntanya (Adelaide). This land was once farmland, but is now being restored it to its original native ecosystem. It is hard work and involves a lot of tough decisions.

/Kerry Packer Civic Gallery - Permanent Exhibition/An informative exhibition tracking the paradigm shift in Australian values, policies, and international relations pursued by the Hawke government.

From educational access to Aboriginal advancement to anti-sex discrimination, to Medicare, to the saving of the Franklin River and Kakadu, to the lifting of trade barriers and the vital furthering of the China relationship, the re-shaping of Australia is embedded in the history of this government.

Join our astronomer for an in depth exploration of celestial events that will happen during the month.
Watch them unfold on our 8 metre dome in this 90 minute session, followed by telescope viewing (weather permitting).
This newly added session will run on the first Saturday night of each month.
