Discover how the Mawson Institute’s (MI) science and engineering research is underpinning ‘next generation’ manufacturing by developing innovative technology platforms.

Our cutting-edge research is shaping the future of high tech manufacturing, opening up economic opportunities for South Australia and improving people’s quality of life. Take, for example, our award winning research in the application of thin film coatings for products in the automotive industry; or our world-leading research into the healing and management of chronic wounds.

With state-of-the-art, purpose-built laboratories, the Mawson Institute supports the innovation cycle from conception to creation, meeting the research and development needs of advanced manufacturers.

Our collaborative engagement with industry and research institutions around the globe feeds into our rich research and teaching environment. We are significant partners in two cooperative research centres, for Advanced Automotive Technology and Wound Management Innovation; and are a significant partner along with the Ian Wark Research Institute in the $73 million Materials and Minerals Research and Teaching Hub

The Materials and Minerals Science Building, a key part of this learning hub, was officially opened on August 6 2012. To celebrate this opening, researchers from Mawson Institute took part in the M2 Opening Symposium, on the topic:  Materials, Minerals and Manufacturing - what does the future hold for these industries in South Australia? You can watch a recording of this Symposium, and the building opening ceremony.

We invite you to come along on our exciting journey.
