As a University recognised and supported research centre, CAGS has a number of levels of membership: full, associate, professional and research support staff, affiliate, and other.

Full members 

Full members are members who meet the following criteria:

  • Members of academic staff who meet the ReNEW membership criteria of 5 outputs in the previous three years;
  • Early Career Researchers (ECRs) who may or may not meet the membership criteria but who meet the criteria for ECR status i.e. PhD conferred within the previous 5 years. Special Consideration forms will be required for ECRs who do not meet the membership criteria; and
  • Research Only staff, i.e., externally funded competitive research fellows or postdoctoral research fellows or research associates, who are employed at 0.5 FTE and above and who are solely funded by the research concentration. Staff within this category may or may not meet the membership criteria.

Student members

All students supervised by full and associate members of a research concentration will be considered to belong to that research concentration. Where students are supervised by two staff members from different research concentrations they will naturally follow the full member unless otherwise agreed.

Associate members 

The purpose of the associate membership category is to provide an opportunity to support the growth of both the research concentration and the individual's research performance. It is expected that associate members will play an active role in the activities of the research concentration including supervision of HDR students. Their area of research will be related to the focus of the research concentration.
